When the open highway calls and the Smoky Mountains roll into view, you’ll want a snack that’s as adventurous (and addictive) as your drive. This Tennessee Road Trip Snack blends the Southern charm of roasted nuts with a hint of sweetness and spice — a little taste of home in every bite.
Ingredients
- 1 bag pecans
- 1 bag cashew
- 1 bag almonds
- 1 bag dried cranberries
- 0.5 cup local honey
- 6 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the SmokerFire up your smoker and stabilize the temperature around 250°F (120°C). Use apple wood or pecan wood for a smooth, sweet smoke that complements the nuts perfectly.
- Melt the Good StuffIn a small saucepan over low heat, melt together the honey and coconut oil. Once combined, stir in the vanilla and cinnamon until smooth and fragrant.
- Mix It UpIn a large mixing bowl, combine the pecans, cashews, almonds, and cranberries. Pour the warm honey mixture over top and toss to coat every piece evenly.
- Smoke the Snack MixSpread the coated mixture evenly on a grill pan or foil-lined baking tray with small holes for airflow. Place it in the smoker and let it smoke for 45–60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to keep the coating even and prevent burning.
- Cool & StoreRemove from the smoker and let cool completely — it’ll crisp up as it cools. Once dry and crunchy, store it in airtight containers or mason jars for road trips, tailgates, or late-night munching.
